Generates revenue by making payment arrangements; collecting accounts; monitoring and pursuing delinquent accounts. Duties: Contacting insurance carriers for status of unpaid claims; Filing of Insurance Claims; Each month obtain from the Client Manager/Team Leader a listing of all delinquent accounts by their aging category, 60 days, 90 days, etc. and payor class. Each month review delinquent accounts individually. Use the support capabilities in the computer system, printed reports, patient information and legal sources such as attorney's employers and credit bureaus to obtain appropriate information for the review and the adjudication of the claim and/or patient balance. During the review process one or more of the following actions should be taken: Contact by phone, patients with large balances to update insurance information. Establish budget plans for patients. Send pre-collection notices to budget accounts not meeting pre-agreed payment plans. Review accounts for possible assignment to a collection agency. Provide the Team Leader with a listing of the accounts. Contact insurance carriers to verify claims status, resubmit claims when appropriate. Document each patients' account of action taken, including date, person contacted, telephone number. o Research and re-process all returned mail/correspondence. o File claims through deceased patients' estates. In conjunction with the Client Manager and Team Leader, make necessary adjustments to patient accounts, according to the client's and our written polices and procedures. Take patient phone calls regarding billing issues. Other duties as assigned
