Medical Records Clerk-PPA Department: Queen City Schedule: Full-time (30 - 40 Hours) Shift: Day shift Hours: 30 Hours Job Details: Maintains medical record files to provide easy access and retrieval of records. Under the direct supervision of the Practice Manager, and within established policies and procedures, the incumbent performs the following functions: Essential Functions: Locates and pulls charts for scheduled appointments in advance, organizes charts by date and time of appointment for each physician, and delivers to proper location. Locates and pulls charts upon request to respond to patient inquiries and returns charts to file area when completed. Ensures that misfiled charts are located and properly re-filed. Identifies incoming correspondence and distributes with chart to appropriate provider or staff member. Files all medical and test result reports, letters and other relevant information, ensuring that all documents have been endorsed by a physician. Purges obsolete records and files in storage; maintains access to archived records on site and at other designated locations. Duplicates and mails records of patients transferring out of the practice and maintains a current list according to established medical records procedures. Answers inquiries and processes requests regarding Attending Physician Statements (APS) and medical records. Opens, sorts and distributes incoming mail to physicians and staff. Delivers hospital and outgoing mail. Photocopies documents and records. Creates and repairs files. Ensures confidentiality of employee, legal, client, budget, and all other company matters. QUALIFICATIONS: Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Experience: Previous experience in medical records preferred.
