Job Title: Medical Billing and Coding Specialist Company: UNMC PHYSICIANS  Location: Omaha, NE Description: BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY: Responsible for accurate charge capture, coding and auditing of UNMC Physicians provider billing. This includes prompt procedural and diagnosis coding for entry into the computerized billing system. Insures compliance with government regulations, UNMC Physicians and department billing policies, coding standards and carrier rules. EDUCATION: Required: High School diploma or equivalent. Current CPC, CCS-P Certification. Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree in Health Information Management or specifically related health service field. EXPERIENCE: Required: Three to five years in medical billing and coding experience (ICD-9-CM and CPT-4) to include medical billing and chart abstraction, 2 years evaluation & management auditing (where required); and reviewing medical records for proper documentation. 10 key. Type 45 wpm. Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills. Knowledge of medical terminology. Must pass Skills Assessment test with a 70%. Preferred: Knowledge of health care laws and regulations for third party billing, especially Medicare.
