Job Title: Medical Coder Company: MED3000 Location: Hilton Head, SC Description: The Coder position is primarily responsible for appropriately increasing the Hierarchical Condition Categories (HCC) audit scores to enhance revenue and improve compliance to physician groups. This position achieves this by independently performing Medicare baseline HCC coding audits and presenting audit results to physicians, office staff and management. Two full time positions are available. Responsibilities: Reviews physician documentation and performs audits to determine accuracy, inputting information into coding software, preparing reports, binders, and educational resources based on the audit results that follow all government and local rules and regulations. Discloses audit results via presentations and/or report to physicians, office managers, billing representatives and MED3OOO Practice Resources staff, as appropriate. Performs courtesy follow-up quarterly audits on physician practices, and may provide training to physicians and staff to improve coding outcomes. Reports overall performance of offices audited on a quarterly basis. Requirements: Minimum of 2 years of coding experience preferably with Cardiovascular/Thoracic or OB/GYN coding; experience in CPT and ICD9 coding and health information coding and auditing. Medical Coding Certification required. Ability to prioritize and organize work area despite multi-faceted task directions and interruptions. General office skills using various office equipment (fax, copier, postage machine, etc.). Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to follow written and oral directions with minimal supervision. Demonstrates strong critical thinking skills, ability to work autonomously, and a sense of urgency in meeting deadlines, but also functions successfully as a team player. Models knowledge of Electronic Health Records, ability to use multiple coding software packages, and understanding of all government payer regulations required.
