Job Title: Medical Transcriptionist Company: Children's Hospital of The King's Daughters, Main Hospital Location: Norfolk, VA Description: Medical Transcriptionist Cardiac Diagnostic Unit Part-Time Under general direction of the Lead Transcriptionist, transcribes dictated clinical reports, distributes these reports, and insures the effective flow of transcription through report distribution process. Reports to department management. Experience, Education and Training Minimum: Approximately six months to one-year medical transcription in a medical record department. Ability to use word processing equipment to type from a digital dictation system at acceptable levels of speed and accuracy. Minimum typing speed is sixty (60) wpm. Level of knowledge normally attained through medical terminology course(s) and vocational/technical or college level courses. Must be able to type a minimum of thirteen (13) dictated minutes per hour (minimum productivity standard) with less than four (4) errors per one hundred (100) lines (quality standard/error rate). Transcriptionist hired without the minimum experience listed above must meet the quality standard and demonstrate steady progression toward the minimum productivity standard: At six (6) months post hire date, they must be able to type 10 dictated minutes per hour; by their 1 year anniversary, they must be meeting the minimum productivity standard of 13 dictated minutes per hour. Transcriptionist hired with at least the minimum experience listed above, must meet both the quality and quantity standards by the end of their three (3) month introductory period.
