In addition, you'll train the staff on documentation, coding related issues, and provide training in ICD-9-CM coding procedures for medical records staff. Other responsibilities include: overseeing coding/abstracting of all discharged records, directing and supervising daily medical record functions in the units, conducting employee evaluations, and assisting with teaching HIT students from surrounding community colleges. Lastly, you'll serve as HIM Director in the absence of the HIM Director; will also serve as backup to the HIPAA Privacy Officer. This position requires: graduation from a four-year college or university with a major in medical record science or medical administration and six months of experience in medical record work; or graduation from a recognized medical record technician program and three years in medical record work; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
