IRC31196, Coding Manager This Coding Manager is responsible for providing leadership, direction and oversight of all coding functions for hospital based coding, including inpatient, day patient, outpatient, emergency room and ancillary coding. The Coding Manager has responsibility for the clinical documentation improvement program and has extensive interaction with hospital staff including physicians, case management, nursing staff and patient business services. The manager is responsible for 32 staff members. Requirements: Associates or Bachelor's degree in HIM, Healthcare Administration, Information systems, Business Administration or related field and 3 years of coding management experience. Advanced coding skills in an acute care hospital setting and in-depth knowledge of ICD-9-CM, CPT, HCPC Coding guidelines is essential. Works closely with Integrity Office, Patient Billing Services, and IT to ensure accuracy of CPT/HCPCS codes, efficiency of electronic workflows and complete and accurate data. Requirements: Possess AHIMA certification such as RHIA, RHIT, CCS, with a minimum of 2 years of management experience. Knowledge, skills and abilities required to perform this job are acquired through progressive management/ coding experience in ICD-9, CPT-4 and HCPCS and facility billing in an hospital setting. IRC31334, Outpatient Coding Auditor/Trainer Assists the Coding Manager and Supervisor in meeting quality and productivity standards and ensuring accurate and compliant coding. Serves as the primary trainer for outpatient coding staff. Requirements: Requires a Bachelors degree in a related field and 3 years of recent outpatient coding experience in an acute care facility OR 5 years of the same experience. Must have the ability to develop and present training curricula for coders and providers based on analysis of audit data.
