Professional Summary
We are seeking a warm, efficient, and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to serve as the first point of contact for our patients. This role is integral in creating a positive patient experience through excellent customer service and meticulous administrative support. The ideal candidate will have experience in a medical front desk setting, possess strong knowledge of HIPAA regulations, and be confident in handling electronic health records, billing, and insurance verification processes.
Key Responsibilities
+ Greet patients warmly and professionally upon arrival, creating a welcoming environment
+ Answer incoming calls, schedule appointments, and manage the front desk workflow
+ Maintain and update patient records using Electronic Health Record (EHR) or Electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems
+ Verify insurance eligibility and collect co-payments prior to services
+ Process billing inquiries and direct patients appropriately for financial assistance or additional support
+ Ensure confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations during all interactions and documentation
+ Perform administrative support tasks such as filing, faxing, scanning, and data entry
+ Collaborate with medical staff to ensure timely communication of patient needs and appointment flow
+ Maintain cleanliness and organization of the front desk and waiting area
Qualifications
Must Have:
+ Minimum 2 years of front desk experience in a healthcare or medical setting
+ Proficient with EHR/EMR systems (e.g., Epic, Athena, or similar)
+ Strong understanding of HIPAA regulations and medical office procedures
+ Experience collecting co-payments and verifying insurance coverage
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
+ High level of professionalism and attention to detail
+ Ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment
Nice to Have:
+ Radiology department experience or familiarity with radiology workflows
