High school graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. Two years relevant clerical experience in a medical clinic or similar facility or in a related field.

Nature & Purpose of Position

Performs complex clerical and medical receptionist duties for the Sam Houston State University Physicians Clinic.

Primary Responsibilities

Performs receptionist duties in a medical office, executing complex clerical functions, and provides excellent customer service. Answers phone calls and routing them to the appropriate team members. Verifies Insurance. Schedules patient appointments and responding to various requests from staff and physicians. Greets patients and collecting payments. Provides necessary documents to patients upon arrival and during checkout, as well as answering any questions. Solves routine problems. Receives and distributing mail. Assembles and organizing materials. Utilize electronic health records and performing data entry. Verifies and maintaining files. Manages phone calls and walk-in customers. Runs standard reports. Manages medical inventory. Ensures patient and staff confidentiality in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Experience with EHR/EMR systems (Electronic Health Record/Electronic Medical Record Systems). Performs other related duties as assigned.

Other Specifications

Bi-Lingual preferred for this position. Requires basic knowledge of general clerical functions. May require the ability to perform word-processing. Requires accuracy in finding files, entering facts or figures, and operation of office equipment. Strong time management and organizational skills, attention to detail, adept customer service and problem-solving skills.
