Responsibilities

The Patient Service Associate is the first person a patient comes in contact with when scheduling or arriving to their appointment. This role is critical in the positive and smooth patient experience. The "PSA" is responsible for all front desk operations under the direction of practice management, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Greet patients in a courteous and friendly manner, providing a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Scheduling patients
  • Answering phones and triaging patient phone calls for severity/importance
  • Scanning medical records
  • Collection of insurance information and verification or benefits
  • Charge entry and payment posting

Requirements

  • Education and Work Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED

  • A minimum of one year experience is preferred as a Medical Assistant or EMT-Paramedic

  • Certification Requirements:

  • CPR-preferred

  • Age Specific Care Provided For:

  • Adolescents

  • Adults

  • Geriatrics

  • Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Microsoft Word, Power Point, Excel

  • Microsoft Outlook

  • Meditech (if applicable to position)

  • Epic (if applicable to position)

  • Performance Manager/NetLearning

  • Computer proficiency and technical aptitude with the ability to utilize one or more of the following:

  • Must be able to read, write, and speak the English language in an understandable manner.

  • Must be able to work independently and possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.

  • Must possess the ability to effectively communicate and deal tactfully with other personnel, visitors, patients, physicians, customers, and the general public.

  • Must be flexible, have personal integrity, and the ability to function effectively as a team with other employees.

  • Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.

  • Other Requirements:

  • Adapt to the changing needs of the organization, its patients and the market.
