PATIENT SERVICES COORDINATOR II

We seek a dedicated call center representative to join our pediatric team in Orthopaedic Surgery. The role will coordinate call queues, schedule clinic appointments for pediatric patients, ensure accurate patient demographic information is entered into the Epic medical record system, and verify insurance detail

Key Roles & Responsibilities

Appointment Scheduling:

Actively coordinate incoming calls to schedule and reschedule appointments for pediatric orthopaedic patients, ensuring efficient use of clinic resources.

Responsible for coordinating and/or administering certain clinical and patient services and for performing administrative duties in support of physician staff and operations

Responsible for the conduct of patient scheduling.

Coordinates outpatient scheduling and facilitates in-patient pre-certification and admitting processes as necessary

Data Entry:

Accurately enter patient demographic and insurance information into the Epic system and IDX database, maintaining data integrity and confidentiality.

Insurance Verification:

Verify insurance information and obtain necessary authorizations and referrals prior to scheduling appointments and surgeries.

Customer Service:

Provide exceptional customer service by addressing patient inquiries, routing calls as needed, and assisting with scheduling issues.

Multi-tasking:

Perform various customer-focused functions, including pre-registration verification, limited financial counseling, and follow-up on appointments as required.

Patient Advocacy:

Acting as a liaison between patients, their families, and the healthcare facility, ensuring they access available services.

Follows up with patients and patient families regarding post-treatment/post-operative status

Communication: Responding to patient inquiries and providing support.

Serves as an advocate for patient and patient family assisting patients and patient families with obtaining services and assistance available within the University or Birmingham community.

Problem Resolution:

Addressing and resolving any patient-related issues

Answers patient and patient family inquiries verbally or in writing.

Surgical Coordination:

Coordinate required information for surgical cases, ensuring all necessary documentation is completed and communicated to relevant parties to schedule the cases accurately.

May supervise clerical staff.

Education

Bachelor's degree in a related field and one (1) year of related experience required.
