What You'll Be Doing
Wake County Health and Human Services is looking for a (Part Time) Bilingual Patient Access Representative to join the team and provide customer service to county employees and citizens of Wake County to reduce infant mortality. This position is part of a multi-disciplinary team consisting of Physicians, Physician Extenders, Nurses, Nurse Aides, Clinical Social Worker, Human Services Technician and other Customer Service Representatives, all working together to meet the goals of the work area.
Essential Functions Include: Responds to inquiries from both internal and external customers
Gathers intake or service request information
Registers customers for services, schedules appointments and service calls and provides necessary information
Receives monies, enters customer information into databases and provides receipts if appropriate
May balance cash drawers and process invoices

The Basics (Required Education and Experience)
High school diploma or GED
One year of job-related experience
Equivalent education and experience are accepted
Beyond the Basics (Preferred Education and Experience)
Bilingual strongly preferred
Experience translating Spanish to English in a medical or healthcare environment
Customer service experience in a Prenatal and Family Planning clinic strongly preferred
Customer service experience in a Public Health environment
Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel
Medical office experience
Medical terminology

Excellent verbal and written communications skills
Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of internal and external management
Use excellent customer service skills to work through issues raised by the key stakeholders of the assigned projects

Employment Type: Regular
Work Schedule: 34 hrs/week; M-F 8:15a-5:15pm; Modified schedule on Wednesdays
Hiring Range: $17.59- $23.75 commensurate with experience
