Health Information Specialist-Onsite

Health Information System - EMR Specialist Employer: RemX Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM Location: Onsite Duration: 3+ months, potential for hire Responsibilities: Process Release of Information (ROI) requests in compliance with HIPAA, state laws, and organizational policies Retrieve, review, and release medical records using EMR systems (Epic, Cerner, Meditech) Ensure accurate documentation and timely responses to patient, legal, insurance, and third-party requests Maintain confidentiality and security of Protected Health Information (PHI) Audit ROI logs and EMR access for compliance Collaborate with HIM, IT, and clinical teams on record issues Train staff on EMR navigation, ROI procedures, and privacy best practices Support EMR upgrades, testing, and new feature implementation Generate reports on ROI volume, turnaround times, and compliance metrics Contribute to quality improvement initiatives for ROI and EMR workflows Qualifications: Minimum 2 years of experience with ROI processing and EMR systems Strong knowledge of HIPAA and medical record confidentiality Experience with legal and insurance medical record requests Knowledge of medical terminology and clinical workflows Familiarity with document imaging and electronic faxing Analytical and reporting skills EMR proficiency (Epic, Cerner, Meditech, or similar) ROI or HIM certification (RHIT, CHPS, CRIS) preferred Audit ROI logs and EMR access reports to ensure compliance and identify discrepancies.
