A BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION AND DRUG SCREENING IS REQUIRED TO FILL THIS POSITIONMedical Support Assistant, Bethesda MDRequired Skills & Abilities:* One (1) year experience in a health care setting working directly in-person with patients.* Have a basic knowledge of medical terminology.Preferred Experience:* Three (3) years of Health Care experience working directly with patients.Duties:* Schedules patient appointments in the computerized appointment scheduling system.* Transcribe requests for patient admission; pre-register patients for admission; admit inpatients and register new outpatients in the NIH Clinical Research Information System (CRIS).* Prepare areas for the workday; receive and direct telephone calls; provide reception; make arrangements for interpreter services.* Prepare any medical record or visit paperwork for the patient visit; assemble inpatient chart; disassemble inpatient chart for filing in medical record.* Perform monthly safety inspections; and provide requested patient identification materials (labels, wristbands, etc.).* Transcribe requests for patient travel authorizations into the NIH Business Systems (NBS).* Enter data, produce, and/or distribute various reports; collect and enter patient wait and processing time statisticsHours of Operation :* On-Site Base Hours: 7:30 am - 4:00 pm Monday - Friday* Days, Evenings, which shall include holidays, weekends and may include overtime as needed* After Hours Supplemental Pay: (Evening and Nights +3.50 p/h, Weekends +5.00 p/h)Education:* High School Diploma (minimum)* Associates degree (preferred)* Duties for most areas require walking, carrying medical records, medical equipment, etc. up to about 50 pounds.
