The Medical Billing Specialist is responsible for processing medical claims, verifying insurance information, and ensuring accurate and timely billing for patient services. This role requires strong attention to detail, professionalism, and the ability to work efficiently in a fastpaced healthcare environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare, review, and submit medical claims to insurance companies (electronic and paper).
Verify patient insurance coverage and obtain authorizations when required.
Review coding for accuracy (ICD10, CPT, HCPCS) and ensure compliance with billing guidelines.
Follow up on unpaid or denied claims and resolve discrepancies.
Post payments, adjustments, and reconcile patient accounts.
Communicate with insurance companies, patients, and healthcare providers regarding billing inquiries.
Maintain accurate billing records and documentation.
Generate patient statements and assist with payment plans when needed.
Ensure compliance with HIPAA and all billing regulations.
Support front office staff with billingrelated questions and documentation.
