Front office reception for Physician Office

Reports to\: Market Manager

Essential Functions

Greets patients and visitors in a prompt, courteous and helpful manner

Enters patient information into the medical billing system

Collects insurance information and runs verifications routinely.

Maintains appointment book and follows office scheduling procedures

Answers telephone, screens calls, takes messages, and provides information

Coordinates lab work, reviews encounter forms, physician's report, ect.

Enters and maintains current patient information in the medical record (contact info, insurance, etc).

Type's correspondence as directed. Open, sort and deliver mail.

Maintains work area and lobby in neat and orderly manner

Receives payments, including point of service, from patients and issues receipts (check-in and checkout)

Provides financial counseling to patients requiring hospital admission, surgical proc. &/or delinquent account balance.

Reconciles daily cash and balances cash drawer

Posts charges and payments and maintains required records, reports and files as defined by the supervisor.

Daily balance and update charge and receipt summaries. Complete daily close process.

Prepares daily bank deposit

Ensures office supply inventory is adequate and orders supplies when needed

Timely processes invoices for payment

Assist in nursing duties as needed (referrals, pre-certifications, scheduling tests, etc).

Reads and stays current on coding regulations & billing requirements as determined by RCG

Participates in professional development activities

The ability and willingness to follow established Standards of Performance

Performs related work as required

Maintains strict confidentiality

Non-Essential Functions
Other duties as assigned.
Must complete all assigned education in a timely manner.
Must complete department specific education.

Actively participates in Foundation Safety Behavior Tools and Tactics such as Briefs, Debriefs, Huddles, Learning Board Activities, Executive Patient Safety Rounds and reporting of unanticipated and unintended patient events regardless of whether there is harm.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education
High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Technical school certification in office occupations is preferred.

Required Skills
Must possess significant interpersonal skills
Must be able to read and communicate effectively in English
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos.
Must possess skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, medical staff, and the public
Must be able to work independently and within a team
Must possess strong computer skills and have the ability to work with multiple computer systems
