Under the general direction of the Director CDI/Coding or designee, the Medical Records Coder I will improve documention, da quality and revenue cycle operions. The coder assigns Internional Classificion of Disease system- 10 (ICD), CM, and PCS codes according to AHA AMA Guidelines, CMS and NGS.
Core Job Responsibilities- Assign diagnosis and procedure codes, for accure and timely billing of most approprie payer
- Audit charges and establish proper coding in collaborion with providers
- Initie and follow up on queries with providers
- Assist departments with diagnostic and procedural coding
- Respond to Insurance, compliance and RAC denials
- Review and assist in the maintenance of coding reled policies and procedures
- Perform other duties as required.
REQUIRED:
- AS in Health Informion Management , a reled degree or equivalent experience
- Knowledge of EMR, Coding Software, and Microsoft Office
- Knowledge/understanding of modifiers, medical necessity & CCI edits
- Good Oral and Written Communicion
PREFERRED:
- BS in Health Informion Management
- Knowledge of Epic and 3M software
PREFERRED:
- R HIA, RHIT, CCS, CCA, CPC, CIC Certificion
